Daniel Nikolovski

CEO & Founder

Daniel is the CEO & Founder of Alpina Capital AG, where he is overseeing investment solutions within a full range of asset classes, from sustainable direct investments, to multi asset funds and alternative funds. Prior to founding Alpina Capital, Daniel spent over 17 years on the investment side, where he worked for Bank Julius Baer in the Investment Advisory and Equity Strategy. Since 2001, he worked for 14 years at Falcon Private Bank, where he had the full responsibility in managing managing a full range of multi asset funds, with a proven track record. Daniel spent more than ten years in the Asset Management division of the bank in the equity and multi asset team. He holds a Master of Advanced Studies in Banking & Finance from the FHNW in Zurich.

Michael Luchs

Structuring Specialist

Michael is a Structuring Specialist at Alpina Capital AG, he provides strong structuring skills obtained while gaining experience at multiple financial firms. Next to that has a strong track record in real estate transactions in Switzerland. Michael is involved with multiple Swiss corporations assisting to structure their financial solutions.

Johanna Zubler

Administrator

Johanna is running the accounting and is responsible for administrative work at Alpina Capital AG. Previously, Johanna was working at Schlatter Industries AG as an Electrical Engineer and was managing multiple human resources companies, where she was mainly responsible for accounting units.

Alfred Brandner

CEO

Alfred Brandner joined Falcon Fund Management (Luxembourg) S.A. in 2008 as conducting officer. Since 2011 he acts as CEO and board member of the company. Alfred has been working in the fund industry for more than 20 years as managing director for fund management companies in Zurich (AIG), Luxembourg(Deka) and Frankfurt (Deka). He has a university degree in Business Administration and started his career as tax advisor in Vienna.

Bärbel Schneider joined Falcon Fund Management (Luxembourg) S.A. in 2015 as conducting officer. Since 2019 she acts as COO and as board member of the managed SICAVs. Bärbel has been working in the Luxembourg fund industry for more than 20 years in different roles for various fund management companies.

Christoph Ollinger

Senior Fund Specialist

Christoph Ollinger joined Falcon Fund Management (Luxembourg) S.A. in 2017 as Senior Fund Specialist. He is responsible of accounting of the company, oversees and executes regulatory reporting and the reporting of the board and management meetings. Christoph has been working for more than 10 years in the Luxembourg fund industry. Prior joining Falcon Fund Management (Luxembourg) S.A. Christoph worked in the fund administration sector for various fund management companies.

Michael Bidinger

Risk Manager

Michael Bidinger joined Falcon Fund Management (Luxembourg) S.A. in 2018 as Risk Manager. Michael has been working for 10 years with structured securities and loans at HSH Nordbank AG in Luxembourg. He switched into the fund management business in 2018. Michael studied Economics at universities in Germany and England.

Bastian Schwind-Wagner

Risk Manager

Bastian Schwind-Wagner joined Falcon Fund Management (Luxembourg) S.A. in 2014. Bastian’s record of accomplishments in the fund industry counts for more than 17 years. He is a recognized expert, a member of the ALFI Risk Management Steering Committee and a common speaker at industry conferences. Before joining Falcon, Bastian worked for Deka Group for 13 years where he held a management position in the risk area.

Stefan Müller

Solidum-Alpina Cat Bond Fund Manager

Stefan Mueller holds a masters degree in finance. From 1996 to 1999 he worked as an underwriter at Centre Re, focusing on the design and implementation of financial solutions for insurance exposures. Until 2003 he was an insurance event-linked securities specialist at Converium, responsible for development and transaction of transfer mechanisms of insurance risks to capital markets. He is the founding partner of ISP Alternative Risk Advisors AG, rebranded Solidum Partners after a management buyout in 2006.

Dr. Karsten Bromann

Solidum-Alpina Cat Bond Fund Manager

Dr. Karsten Bromann holds a Ph.D. in physics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), Lausanne and is a qualified actuary DAV. From 1998 to 2005 he worked with Zurich Insurance Company as a pricing actuary, head of quantitative analysis, and vice-president and technical deal architect, responsible for Zurich Corporate Solutions‘ alternative risk transfer portfolio in Europe. He joined Solidum Partners’ predecessor ISP ARA in 2005 as Chief Risk Officer. He has earned several awards for his outstanding scientific work.

John Hathaway

Sprott-Alpina Gold Fund Manager / Sprott

John Hathaway joined Sprott in January 2020. Mr. Hathaway is a Portfolio Manager of Co-Portfolio Manager of the Sprott Gold Equity Fund. Previously, he joined Tocqueville Asset Management L.P. in 1997 where he was a Co-Portfolio Manager of the Tocqueville Gold Fund. Prior to joining Tocqueville, Mr. Hathaway co-founded and managed Hudson Capital Advisors. In 1976, he joined the investment advisory firm David J. Greene and Company, where he became a Partner. Mr. Hathaway began his career in 1970 as an Equity Analyst with Spencer Trask & Co. Mr. Hathaway earned a B.A. from Harvard College and an MBA from the University of Virginia. He also holds the CFA® designation.

Douglas Groh

Sprott-Alpina Gold Fund Manager / Sprott

Douglas Groh joined Sprott Asset Management in January 2020. He serves as a Co-Portfolio Manager of the Sprott Gold Equity Fund as well as other investment vehicles in the Sprott Gold Equity Strategy. Previously, Mr. Groh was a Portfolio Manager at Tocqueville Asset Management L.P. Prior to joining Tocqueville, he was Director of Investment Research at Grove Capital from 2001-2003. From 1990-2001, he held investment research and banking positions at J.P. Morgan, Merrill Lynch, and ING Bank. During the late 1980s, Mr. Groh served as a portfolio manager of gold mining equity funds for U.S. Global Investors and IDS Financial Services, after beginning his career as a mining and precious metals analyst in 1985 at U.S. Global Investors. Mr. Groh earned a B.S. in Geology/Geophysics from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and an M.A. from the University of Texas at Austin, where he focused on mineral economics.

He advises Alpina Capital as an expert in quantitative analysis on the Alpina Witt U.S. Macro portfolio. Thomas provides more than 15 years of investment experience with a strong track record in computer based trend analysis. Prior to founding WittGmbH he headed a division at a medium sized technology company where he emphatically advanced systematic analysis and digitization.

Ariel Burt

Renewable Energy Advisor / CAERO

Ariel Burt is a Managing Partner and Founder of CAERO. She is focused on business development and new opportunities across Asia, Europe and America. Ms. Burt is currently predominately active in the western European and Asian market, by spearheading  CAERO’s ventures together with local teams, as well as the active management of the development activities. She is experienced in planning large-scale mixed use master plan projects for cities and districts globally, as well as in the planning and realisation of complex architectural buildings. She has, in past, worked as an architect and later as a construction supervisor at several different leading architecture firms in Europe and the US.. She is an alumnus of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (Zurich) where she obtained her Master of Science ETH with a special focus in engineering and architecture.

Prof. Dr. Christian Kronseder is an accomplished investment banker with 20y+ experience. He is a specialist in quantitative finance and for building client focused platforms in equity derivatives, indexing and trading strategies.  Christian recently started as a guest professor for data science in life sciences at the life sciences department of the University of Applied Sciences North West in Switzerland. He is also the CEO of ALLINDEX, a leader in platform driven index and investment trading strategies R&D.
